The Canberra Raiders have made the right call with new smartphones for the 2013 NRL Season, with a list of star players making the switch to Huawei Devices. Celebrating Huawei’s first anniversary as the major sponsor of the Raiders, a number of players have replaced their old mobiles with Huawei’s most powerful smartphone available in Australia – the Ascend D1 quad.
“Both the Raiders and Huawei Device had a strong finish in 2012 – the Raiders making the Top 8 on the NRL ladder, and Huawei Device being named the number-three smartphone maker in the world*,” said Huawei Australia Chairman John Lord. “Having the Raiders make the switch to Huawei Devices is a great way to kick off the 2013 season – Huawei has the goal of being a top-three mobile device company in the world in the next three years, and we’re all backing the Raiders for a top finish this season too.”
Raider’s five-eighth Josh McCrone said he loves his new Huawei Ascend D1 quad, saying the team used handy features like calendar sync to always arrive at training on time, as well as social media apps which will keep fans up-to-date with their favourite players throughout the season.
“The phone has a great calendar function which allows the players to make sure they are at training on time every time so there’s no excuse,” McCrone said. “It’s really lightweight and easy to use as well, while the guys who are on Twitter love how easy it is to update their accounts and check their Facebook.”
Raider’s players using the Ascend D1 quad include Captain Terry Campese, centre Jarrod Croker, five-eighth Josh McCrone, winger Sandor Earl, front rower Brett White and lock Shaun Fensom, while a number of additional players are getting ready to make the switch to Huawei.
Making the switch to the Ascend D1 quad was a simple task for the Raiders, as the smartphone easily integrated with the team’s Exchange Server environment for email and calendar access. Running on the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, the Ascend D1 quad was also loaded with the new Android NRL LIVE 2013 app.
