Sokanu, a free website devoted to helping people explore their career choices and find their passion, launched new features to their profile today, including a new feature called Career Stories. The new features allow users to rate and review their previous careers, and share their professional stories with other members.
“We believe that there is a lot more to a person than just their resume,” said CEO Spencer Thompson. “Each person’s unique character should be represented in a story-like format that reveals their path in the past, present and future. This is why we have created Career Stories, which we are excited to release today.”
How Sokanu works
When new members register for Sokanu, they are prompted to answer an initial set of six questions. Once these first questions have been answered, members can then see their top 5 career match recommendations in real time. As members progress through the questions about their interests, values, and skills, their results become increasingly accurate. At any time throughout the process, members can review a detailed breakdown of what makes them compatible with any of the site’s 400+ careers.
Sokanu’s new profiles offer a platform for members to rate and review their previous careers, a function that helps guide your career path by using your past experiences as a map. After members have reviewed a career, they can share their story. Career Stories are a social environment for reflection, storytelling, and exploring your possibilities by reading the stories of others. Recommendations and nudges are our new, one-click social actions: members can effortlessly promote someone’s story, or encourage someone else to share their own.
