Sony Computer Entertainment New Zealand has released MAG™ for PlayStation®3 (PS3™), the largest online shooter on any games system to date.
MAG takes you into a world of warfare on an unprecedented scale, where Private Military Companies protect governments’ interests abroad while fighting the brutal Shadow War amongst themselves. MAG challenges you to join one of these factions and stake your online reputation in vast battles of 256 players at once.
A mixture of action, tactics and teamwork, it lets you win glory on the battlefield and then work your way through the chain of command to lead a squad, then a platoon and finally an entire army. Exclusive to PS3, and has arrived in store today.
Your first challenge is to choose the PMC you’ll pledge allegiance to: the streamlined, hi-tech Raven, the adaptable, ex-military Valor or the unconventional and intimidating S.V.E.R. Each faction has its own distinct fighting style, weapons and look: it’s up to you to decide the one that’ll suit you best.
Now, it’s onto the battlefield to earn the experience points that will let you rise through the ranks of your PMC and carve out your own military career. You’ll start as part of an eight-man squad led by a more experienced fighter, taking part in set-piece attacks, wild charges and ferocious hand-to-hand combat.
The scale of battle is huge – featuring armoured transports, planes, sniper rifles, grenades, rocket launchers, parachutists, air strikes and more – but everything can turn on a single inspired action from one player.
More than a game, MAG is a career on the front line that lets you progress, game by game, developing your skills, customising your equipment and choosing how to progress.
Although your leaders give the orders, you can find your own military niche, specialising as a sniper, medic, assault trooper, scout – or whatever else you find yourself to be good at under heavy fire.
